Our first introduction to Dale Chihuly’s blown glass art was a 2008 visit to the DeYoung in San Francisco where he had mounted his largest exhibition to date. Since then we have followed his work and go out of the way when we travel to visit installations and exhibits. Chihuly uses a team approach to creating his works of art, something he learned during in internship at the very same Murano studios that Susan and I had visited in 2001. His work style is spontaneous and the end results are a combination of extreme creativity and happy coincidence. Dale Chihuly’s mastery of the blown glass sculpture makes him without a doubt one of his generations most creative artists in any format or medium. These photos of the Chihuly Collection were taken at the Morean Arts Center in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida.
