Susan and I spent the July Fourth holiday week at Lake Tahoe. The on-trail scenery was dramatic, the weather was cool and inviting and once you are a hundred yards from the trailhead you were away from the crowds. Above 8700-ft elevation we watched a summer storm move in with thunder and lightning. From up there you can see weather coming from 40-miles away and we were back to the car before the heavy rain started to fall.
I also spent a day hiking around our local ski mountain. Trekking up to the Snowflake Lodge you enjoy the same fantastic lake views we see in winter. It’s easy to see how Diamond Peak was one of Red Bull’s 2015 top ten most beautiful places to ski in the world.
